We are pleased to announce The Great Northern Creative Festival is coming to UCLan 22nd April – 25th April in partnership with Northern Rail. This 4 day event will showcase the creative talents of UCLan students in Media, Journalism, Photography & Film.
Opening the festival on the 22nd April is author and screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce, who will do a Q&A with the audience in Darwin Lecture Theatre, before then leading on to a screening of his classic 2002 film 24 Hour Party People.
The award winning writer said:
“I’m delighted to support this year’s UCLAN Student Creative Festival…to offer support and advice to its Creative Students. Events like this are absolutely vital to help young creative people have a voice and motivate them to get out there and have a future in the Creative Industry.”
Emily Feller from Red Productions will also join us, as she passes on her invaluable experiences of working on the likes of Holby City and most recently Channel 4’s hit Banana. Tying into Emily’s event is Mediating the North with Dr Peter Atkinson and Professor Ewa Mazierska, an academic symposium on April 24th of which will analyze both Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax.
CJAM 2015 will return as industry professionals from across the board visit, with students getting the chance to pitch their ideas and network.
Alongside a whole host of theatre specialists in our special event Beyond a Fringe, we are delighted to welcome various local film makers including the Preston based The Blackout Project. With producer Julie Lau and writer Punam Ramchurn also giving talks, this diverse event stretching across several subject areas will hopefully inspire our students and the general public too. An awards ceremony is set for the Saturday, with various awards to be given out and the prizes range from 6 months and 3 months free travel on our sponsors Northern Rail’s services.
