The Clapperboard Youth Project is a short film-making project delivered by Clapperboard UK
Clapperboard is now in its 8th year, bringing creativity into education and communities across the North West through an exciting educational filmmaking initiative with young people and their communties. To date, over one thousand young people have participated.
Clapperboard delivers its high standing work in partnership with schools, youth services and professionals from the industry of film and television.
We have an Active Citizens Panel of young people democratically voted by their peers who are actively involved in Clapperboard’s activities. The Active Citizens Panel decides on the themes of the films on issues that affect their lives such as racism, sexuality and gender and gun, knife and gang culture.
The short films when complete are judged by a panel of experts and receive awards presented by celebrities at our annual high profile film premiere attended by a diverse audience including young people, their families and friends, partners, sponsors etc.
Industry professionals supporting the project include: Paul Abbott, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Jimmy McGovern, Willy Russell, Alison Steadman, Ricky Tomlinson, David Morrissey, Ian Hart, Christine Tremarco, Colin McKeown, Margi Clarke, Nik Powell.
